Some institutes of higher learning are better at controlling players than others, but they all operate in the same risky bandwidth. If you're going to be competitive, you simply accept the possibility a couple of student-athletes will make guest appearances on COPS.

It would be nice if that weren't so, if every player majored in pre-med and went to the malt shop to celebrate wins. But we're talking about college kids, and they are supposed to cut up.

We're also talking football, and a lot of those kids wouldn't be in college if they weren't good at wreaking havoc. Most turn out fine, but a few deals with the devil always go bad.
